Purpose: This document shows the basic steps to install Atlas of Rubi-Ka, AoRK later in this document, and Atlas of Shadowlands, AoSL later in this document, for Anarchy Online. These maps are available at http://aomaps.com/.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of your operating system, such as opening files and folders
- Ability to download files
- Extraction utility, such as WinRAR or 7-Zip
- Existing Anarchy Online installation and knowledge where it is
- Basic knowledge of Anarchy Online, in terms and user interface
Before we begin
First, find your Anarchy Online installation directory. I will be using C:\Games\Anarchy Online in this document, you should replace that to your own where it is used. Anarchy Online should not be installed under Program Files, as this will cause problems. If you have installed under Program Files, try reinstalling the game to other directory if things do not work.
Download the maps
Now, to begin the process and for that you need to download the maps. Get the AoRK, and if you have Shadowlands AoSL as well, to a location you can remember. You can use the official site (http://www.aomaps.com/), my mirror, or any other trusted site hosting the maps.
Extracting the maps
The process to extract the maps is very similar to both AoRK and AoSL, so I will show the process for AoRK. Once you have extracted AoRK, you can follow same steps to install AoSL as well, just use AoSL file instead of AoRK.
I will be using WinRAR in the screenshots below, but it should be similar with other programs as well.
Open the file
Use whatever method you wish to open the AoRK zip file, either via extract program or by filesystem. If everything is correct, you should see that AoRK got one folder inside the archive: AoRK.
Extract into correct directory
Next step is to extract the files to correct place. In my case, I hit the Extract To -button. Then I navigate to my Anarchy Online installation folder, which, as I said earlier, is C:\Games\Anarchy Online. Don't hit the OK or Extract yet!
The game folder is not the correct place for the map, but we need to add bit more to it. Anarchy Online maps are textures for the planet map, so the correct folder is cd_image\textures\PlanetMap, or in my case, C:\Games\Anarchy Online\cd_image\textures\PlanetMap.
AoSL
If you got Shadowlands, or otherwise want to install AoSL as well, follow the steps above for the AoSL archive. Otherwise, continue to in-game part.
Setting maps inside the game
Launch Anarchy Online, log in and select some character, wait for it to load.
AoRK
For AoRK selection, you first need to get on to Rubi-Ka. Once you are on Rubi-Ka, open your planet map. Click on the info button on the top-left corner of the window:
Then Select Map
And it should bring you map menu:
Now you can select the correct AoRK map for your dimension; as far as I know the difference is in marked tower sites. As I am on Rimor, I selected AoRK "AoRK RK2 v2.1.0", if you are on Atlantean, you can select the RK1 version. Map might flash and change its default zoom level, and should be running AoRK now.
If you get problems with map not showing up, you can use /setoption PlanetMapIndexFile "normal/PlanetMapIndexNormal.txt" to reset the RK map to its default.
AoSL
Basic steps with AoSL are same as with AoRK, but you need to be in Shadowlands for the AoSL to show in the menus. As there are no tower sites inside Shadowlands, there is only single map available for there; "Atlas of Shadowlands v0.9.3". Also, the default map command is slightly different: /setoption ShadowlandMapIndexFile "Shadowlands/ShadowlandsMap.txt"
